Sex Toy Maintenance
Welcome to our guide on Sex
Toy Maintenance
This is how we recommend to look after your new sex toy.
Firstly, we don't claim
to be medical experts, however, we would like to point out that clean toys will
minimise any chances of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and infection.
If you believe you have a STD or infection please consult a doctor.
If you share a toy it's a very good idea to cover the toy with a condom
before applying lubricant. Change the condom when you change users. Do not
compromise safe sex practices in the heat of the moment. Safe Sex must be
considered seriously in today's world.
Battery Operated Toys
Once you have finished with your sex toy, remove the batteries to lessen the
chances of leakage. This applies, especially, if it might be a while
between use.
Keep battery operated sex toys away from water, this will undoubtedly cause
their death. The battery compartments of the toys are often not water
proof. If water gets inside the toy and around the motor mechanism it will
cause the sex toy to corrode and seize.
Clean your sex toy after use with a damp cloth and warm soapy
water. An anti-bacterial solution, but not bleach, is best used in the
water. Ensure that before you assemble your toy there is no water in or
around the battery area. Dry the toy thoroughly before storing it.
Sunlight will break down most silicon's, rubbers and latex
compounds. Therefore, keep your toys away from direct sunlight as it will
deteriorate them over time.
If you own a few sex toys, it is
better to store them separately or store them each in individual bags.
Sometimes different plastics, latex etc, can react with each other and
cause the toys to break down.
Waterproof Battery Operated
Toys
Batteries are not water proof. The battery compartments of toys labelled
'waterproof' are often not waterproof, as claimed. Although we try to
avoid this, the rule of thumb is make sure your toy is properly sealed. If
the seal is no good, make no mistake, the water will destroy it. After
immersion dry it off thoroughly before carrying out any cleaning and apply
general maintenance as explained above.
Cracks and Fractures
If any toy shows signs of weakness, be it a crack, fracture or just a
sharp surface, throw it out. Your safety is not worth the risk.
Batteries
They are expensive, we know, however, use good quality batteries. There is
nothing worse than running out of buzz when you want the buzz. Cheap
batteries seem to leak faster and they just don't last the distance. We
would go as far as to say that battery leakage, is the biggest killer of
toys, next to water.
Other Toys
Clean Duo Balls, Dongs, Strap-on's etc with warm soapy water. Dry and store
away from heat and sunlight. Ensure any strings, straps etc are also
adequately cleaned.
Leather harnesses can be cleaned with a damp cloth, nylon harnesses can go
in the washing machine with your laundry.
Rubber and jelly are porous, therefore, it is impossible to keep them
properly sterilized. The risk is obvious if you are sharing your toys or
using them for both the vagina and anus.
Silicone cocks will not only last much longer than rubber or jelly, but
they can actually be boiled for sterilization, which you can not do with
rubber or jelly dongs.
Depending on the exact composite of the material used in manufacture you
may find sometimes that your toy attracts dust. This means you will want
to clean before use as well as after, allow time to examine your toy
before as well as after it is used.
Look to make your sexual practices as hygienic as possible and use common
sense.
